Summary:
Prior to the full launch of L-INSIGHT, a kick-off retreat/training trip was held to provide early career researchers (hereinafter ECRs) from Kyoto University with the opportunity to participate in international academic exchange and training sessions. The series of events was facilitated by ECRs and organizations supporting researchers at the University of Melbourne, and served as a platform for all to discuss and reach an agreement for future collaborative efforts. A competency workshop conducted in the City of Perth highlighted action targets that the participating ECRs from Kyoto University considered necessary for their own progress. Furthermore, this also enabled the collection of feedback from the ECRs regarding future plans for L-INSIGHT. 
The participating ECRs generally expressed positive views that the kick-off retreat/training trip was worthwhile as an occasion to experience transdisciplinary exchange and to build a researcher network toward future international collaborations.
