[CToP [Core to Practice]] L-INSIGHT Fellows (1st and 2nd Cohorts), Professor Emeritus/Emerita Mentors, and Others Gather for the 2021 Academic Year Joint Retreat Program (25–26 September 2021).

On 25 and 26 September 2021, L-INSIGHT held its 2021 Academic Year Joint Retreat Program.
This program was held so that the first and second cohorts of fellows, the first cohort’s professor emeritus/emerita mentors, and other individuals involved in L-INSIGHT could come together to hear directly from each other about their interests and activities. It was an opportunity to get away from everyday life and contemplate the “global insight”—insight into the long-term—that L-INSIGHT seeks to foster. We newly welcomed our second cohort of fellows (see the Fellows Introduction Page). In addition to the twenty-six people connected to L-INSIGHT, six people of the company considering participation also joined in the discussions.

On the first day, L-INSIGHT fellows introduced their research and responded to questions, followed by professor emeritus/emerita mentors talking about how their goals and approaches have changed over their careers as researchers. On the second day, L-INSIGHT’s first cohort shared and discussed the competency goals they have set for themselves. L-INSIGHT is creating ongoing dialogue opportunities for fellows to discuss how they want to be involved in creating the post-2030 academic world and society to which they aspire, as well as the competencies that are necessary for this. These presentations were part of this effort.

Many people met each other for the first time during these two days, and although the sessions were conducted online, all presentations were accompanied by lively discussions. Also, the first day included “Fellow-Go-Round,” a time for participants to interact in small groups, as well as a “free talk” room in the virtual space for people to develop their relationships. We expect that their cross-generational and cross-discipline information exchange and collaboration will continue to advance.
